The Ben Lomond Range is a mountain range 50 km (31 mi) east of Launceston. The Ben Lomond National Park, a 16,527 ha. park incorporating the range, is known to have the best skiing in Tasmania.

Ski tows (lifts) and ski hire are available, and there is both downhill and cross country skiing. The public shelter is heated. The final ascent up Jacobs Ladder (pictured) is extremely steep and narrow; all cars should be equipped with chains in winter. There are buses from Launceston to Ben Lomond during ski season; limited accommodation is available in the alpine village.
