Tasmanian Economy

What is the currency of Tasmania?

Tasmania has the same decimal currency as the rest of Australia. The "dollar" consists of 100 cents. There are 100, 50, 20 and 5 dollar notes, two and one dollar coins, and 50, 20, 10 and 5 cent coins. Each coin has Queen Elizabeth II's head on one side and a native animal on the other side (except the $2 coin which features an Aboriginal person).

Normally, one Australian dollar (denoted by A$1) is equivalent to about US$0.65-0.75, C$1, £0.45, and NZ$1.35. The current exchange rate can be found using a Web-based currency converter.
