Tasmania has the same decimal currency as the rest of Australia. The "dollar" consists of 100 cents. There are 100, 50, 20 and 5 dollar notes, two and one dollar coins, and 50, 20, 10 and 5 cent coins. Each coin has Queen Elizabeth II's head on one side and a native animal on the other side (except the $2 coin which features an Aboriginal person). Normally, one Australian dollar (denoted by A$1) is equivalent to about US$0.65-0.75, C$1, £0.45, and NZ$1.35. The current exchange rate can be found using a Web-based currency converter.
